Vanpooling is a Ride-Share program.
All federal employees.
In most cases employees get together and customize their own van-pool.
You can build your own van-pool with as little as seven participants.
There's no out of pocket expense for riding the van-pool for employees who are entered in the Federal Employee Transit Subsidy program and have a van-pool with seven or more riders. The program gives the employee a subsidy for riding in an approved van-pool.
The program is a financial subsidy for federal employees designed to encourage employees to use ride-share programs to commute to and from work. The subsidy can only be used to pay for a van-pooling type commute. Fedride only accepts what the federal subsidy covers and does not charge extra money to the employee making the van-pool FREE for the employee.

You save mileage, wear and tear, fuel, and depreciation on your personal vehicle by riding in a van-pool. This will save you THOUSANDS of dollars yearly.
There is no set mileage to qualify.
The van leader gets with the riders of a van-pool to pick an area to decide where to park. it's generally in a centralized area close to the starting point of the commute. Some vans park in public lots and some riders take the van home. It's all up to the riders of the van.
Most riders meet in the area where the van is parked, park their personal vehicle, then use the van to commute to work. In some cases, extra riders are picked up along the way.
